“With an eye made quiet by the power of harmony, and the deep power of joy, we see into the life of things.”
– William Wordsworth
Life’s profoundly poetic nature directs my art. Its roots have grown my tree of interpretation and imagination. Seeking always to engage the viewer into a closer scrutiny of what is real, what is story, and what is true beauty.
My favorite medium since childhood, colored pencils offer a tender softness while composing my vision on paper. Yet the extensive scope of colors also contributes vibrant energy when called for. Their versatility lend well to my style of “painting with color.”
Born in Tokyo, Japan, I’ve lived most of my life in Hawai‘i. I reside on a small farm with three horses, three chickens, two dogs, and a cat. My career as a graphic designer and illustrator spans over four decades. My work has garnered awards in both book illustration and fine art.
